I have had 2 sets of parents on my recent first aid classes who have small children experiencing breath-holding spells. Breath-holding spells' refers to two distinct conditions that can occur when a child is frightened, upset or angry, or experiences a sudden shock or pain. They are very scary and generate significant anxiety for parents but are ultimately harmless and most children grow out of them. So, I thought I would post a link here to the NHS website in the UK that offers some balanced and useful information on what they are and how to treat them.
